When I was younger, I was completely in love with drawing, but that passion slowly faded away, as the years passed. Once I moved to Cologne, Germany, a new kind of art was inspired by the moody, rainy streets of that city. In the beginning, I wasn’t taking photography that seriously, but as time passed this was, and still is, the thing that makes my life spin faster.
Street photography – capturing moments of life has become my new obsession. Working with a professional commercial photographer for over a year has given me the opportunity to learn in detail the essentials of lighting, staging, building a concept, and presenting it as a final product.
Since then, I’ve been going back and forth between different genres, but in the past year I found myself being drawn back to documentary and street photography. With that said photography is a dynamic I love, finding inspiration in different places and expressing my visions and thoughts through pictures is truly amazing.
Q & A
- How would you describe your style?
Caravaggio’s and Rembrandt’s paintings are my, let’s say, lighting muses, hence the feeling I’m trying to represent through similar lighting schemes in my artwork. - What inspires you?
A photograph that can fluently speak emotion. - What is your best advice to others that want to develop as photographers?
Trust your vision and do not forget that it is only natural to change over time. The technical part is something you can learn while having a unique vision is the real gem. Find inspiration from other photographers, but try to implement your way of seeing things, without copying others’ work.
