Q&A
- How did you start with photo/video?
It started 10 years ago in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My friends and I use to skate around the city with a camera trying to film each other, and I immediately fell in love with the process of creativity and freedom. Some years later I realized that I wanted to try to make a living out of photo/video. Then I started to take it more seriously, looked for more information, ways to progress and kept learning more and more. - How would you describe your style?
I'm more of a sports shooter, action photography and videos, but flexible to do a bit of everything. When it comes to my style it's definitely to improvise! I love the challenge to make something good out of nothing. - What inspires you?
Honestly it’s my dad who was able to achieve so much with so little in Brazil. But also many Brazilian people/photographers - those who doesn’t have much, but are still trying to make it work with a smile on their faces :) - What is your dream shoot or project?
I have two dream projects!
One would be to film a documentary about a football club, maybe FC BARCELONA, PSG or another big club, showing behind the scenes and the story behind each player; their childhood, their background etc.
The second would be to travel the world with my girlfriend and a couple of friends to show them the differences from cultures, lifestyle and how people can live happy with so little and tough conditions. To show other that you actually don’t need much to be happy and you can actually live with less. - What is your best advice to others that want to develop as photographers?
Just get out there and start creating! Today it doesn’t require expensive gear to create cool stuff, as I always say the best camera is the one you have. Your phone can be everything you need to start with. Look for information and develop your own technique, try all kinds of style, then narrow it down to the ones that makes you happy until you find the perfect one. Then you follow that niche and specialise on it.
What is in your bag?
